Thanks for clicking the URL in my Twitter Profile! Nate Deck- Triathlonpal

I’m Nate, a husband, father, triathlete, and a teacher at heart. That is why post the things I do on Twitter and why I write on this blog. I like to help others learn from my mistakes and successes (ok, mostly mistakes). My goal is to help those athletes just starting out and especially Junior athletes since that is the age group I work with at my “day job.”

I try to focus my posts on triathlon related info like training and racing, tips and tricks, sports tech and nutrition. Sometimes I may get a little off topic, but that has more to do with my short attention span than anything else.

I generally post here about three times a week. I hope you will subscribe via RSS or Email so that you won’t miss a thing. If you like what you see and would like to be coached or would like to sponsor my athletic endeavors, I would love to hear from you!

My Biography
A lot of people like to know how I got my start in triathlon. The interesting thing about our sport s that people come to it at all stages of life and from all walks of life.

I got my start in endurance sports back in High School when I starting riding a road bike for fun. I was more of a touring rider and was NOT a racer. That continued until my bike was stolen between semesters at college.

I didn’t pick up cycling again until I was living in Germany and was looking for a challenge on my free time. I convinced another guy to do a triathlon with me and we trained together for 2 months leading up to the Triathlon. Sadly, he had to pull out for health reasons and I didn’t have a German driver’s license so I was out of luck. I did, however, simulate a race at a local lake, and that was it. I was hooked.

Since then I’ve moved back to the states, done a few seasons of Tri’s, had a baby, and even ventured into the world of Duathlons (Run-Bike-Run as opposed to Swim-Bike-Run). My biggest accomplishment so far is racing a Long Course Duathlon Nationals and qualifying for Team USA at the World Championships in 2017. I’m currently planning to race that so keep track of my progress here throughout the season! You can also check out my race results at Athlinks.
